What this tool does

Read QR codes from an uploaded image, pasted screenshot or live camera without sending the image to ToolsDiary. The scanner detects the encoded text and identifies common content such as website links, email addresses, phone numbers, Wi-Fi details, locations and plain text.

QR codes can contain many kinds of data, not only web links. This tool shows the decoded value before you take any action, and it never opens a detected link automatically. Image decoding and camera frames are processed in your browser. Camera access is requested only when you choose the camera scanner and can be stopped at any time.

How to use it

  1. Choose Scan image to upload, drag and drop, or paste a QR-code image.
  2. Alternatively choose Use camera and allow camera permission when your browser asks.
  3. Keep the complete QR code visible and reasonably sharp until it is detected.
  4. Review the decoded result, then copy it or open an HTTP/HTTPS link if you trust the destination.

Practical tips

  • Use a clear image with the complete QR code and some empty margin around it.
  • For camera scanning, improve lighting and hold the QR code steady inside the guide frame.
  • Never assume a QR code is safe simply because it scans successfully; review unfamiliar links before opening them.
  • Camera and uploaded-image processing happen locally in your browser; ToolsDiary does not receive the QR image.

Are QR-code images uploaded to ToolsDiary?

No. Supported images and camera frames are decoded in your browser. ToolsDiary does not receive the image or live camera feed.

Why is my QR code not detected?

The code may be blurry, too small, heavily cropped, damaged or low contrast. Try a clearer image, better lighting, a steadier camera position or a screenshot with the full QR code visible.

Does the scanner automatically open links?

No. The decoded value is shown first. An Open link button appears only for normal HTTP or HTTPS URLs, and you decide whether to use it.

Can I scan with my phone camera?

Yes, on browsers that allow camera access over HTTPS. The tool prefers the rear-facing camera on mobile devices when available.

What kinds of QR content can it recognize?

The scanner can decode the raw QR value and labels common patterns such as web URLs, email addresses, phone numbers, SMS, Wi-Fi configuration, geographic coordinates, contact cards and plain text.
