YouTube exposes multiple thumbnail sizes for videos, while other video platforms may publish one or more thumbnail URLs through public metadata. ToolsDiary checks the platform first, then falls back to standard webpage metadata when a dedicated method is not available. Because this lookup must read the public video page or metadata endpoint, the video URL you enter is sent to the ToolsDiary server for processing. Private, login-only, blocked or JavaScript-only pages may not expose a downloadable thumbnail.

  • For YouTube, the highest-resolution thumbnail is only shown when that size actually exists for the video.

  • Downloading a thumbnail does not grant permission to republish it. Respect the creator’s copyright and the platform’s terms.
